How to Dry Brush—and Why It’s So Potent

Stacked amongst the clear glass jars of homeopathic remedies, immune-supporting supplements, rose creams, and carrot cleansers on the shelves of any natural pharmacy you’ll find a long wooden brush that looks straight out of an especially well-made Norwegian sauna. The brush is one of a few items needed for dry brushing. But what exactly is dry brushing and what are the benefits? Simply put, dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like… brushing the skin in a particular pattern with a dry brush, usually before showering. In dry brushing, the skin is typically brushed toward the heart, starting at the feet and hands and brushing toward the chest.
