I have long been a fan of Stephen Covey’s work on writing your own mission statement and defining your purpose. He asked us in his landmark work The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to begin with our end in mind. Mr Covey asked us to define our mission statement. I have seen leaders all over this country of ours being led around by their calendars and whirlwind, and not by their purpose. It is extremely taxing on your personal resiliency when you cannot remember why you took your job in the first place!
